If you know you are going to need to turn your water off for a project (that doesn't have to do with your sewer) be sure to have a few buckets of water handy before you turn off your water supply. You can still flush your toilet by pouring the water into the toilet bowl!

When you turn the water back on, it's best to flush your water lines by turning the water on to your tub before using water anywhere else in the house. There may be sediment in the lines that could clog airrators in your sink or shower if you run your water there first :)
