How To Clean Your Faucet Aerator
Most indoor water faucets have a faucet aerator screwed on to the end.
What does an aerator do?
Prevents splashing
Shapes the water stream coming out of the faucet spout producing a straight and evenly pressured stream
Conserves water and reduces energy costs
Reduces faucet noise
Increases perceived water pressure
Provides slight filtration of debris due to a small sieve plate
What do I do if my aerator doesn't seem to be working properly?
If your aerator is on the fritz try a quick clean.
Wrap some electrical or masking tape around the jaws of the groove-joint pliers or around t*he aerator to prevent scratches.
Grip the outside of the aerator with the pliers, and turn the aerator clockwise to loosen it.
Disassemble the aerator.
Use an old toothbrush and a gentle touch to clean the parts.
Reassemble the aerator parts.
Re-install the aerator on the faucet
If this doesn't work you may need to replace the aerator with a new one. For all your plumbing, heating and cooling needs give us a call at Service First Tradeworks Ltd. (250) 832-5558 or (250) 675-3668.
