Top 3 tips to prevent frozen pipes

In preparation for freezing temperatures here are a few tips to keep in mind to prevent water pipes in your home from potentially rupturing.

Frozen Pipes

(1) Turn off all outside hose bibs and disconnect any hoses before the first frost.

(2) Check for uninsulated areas in your home, such as those running along an outside wall or any pipes running outside. These should be covered with heat tape and insulated. **Be sure to test your heat tape each year to make sure it is plugged in and working :)

(3) Even if you are not going to be home for a period of time keep your home's temperature set to 12-15 degrees celsius as turing the heat too low increases the risk of frozen pipes.
