Help Your Furnace In Extreme Cold Weather

With the temperatures dropping it's important to give our furnace a little extra TLC while it works overtime to keep our homes warm and toasty.

Keep your filter clean.

Keeping your furnace filter clean helps prevent your furnace from working harder than it needs to.

Keep an eye on your outside vents.

Make sure your furnace vents are clear of ice and snow to keep your system running smoothly and to prevent any safety issues.

Keep your thermostat at a constant temperature.

Generally it is a good idea to set your programable thermostat to cooler temperatures at night or while you are away at work and to have the temperature back up when you are home and awake, but in extreme cold you actually conserve energy by keeping a constant temperature all day and your furnace doesn't have to work as hard to get back to a comfortable temperature.
